Background
As a christmas gift, I wanted to make something handmade and personal. Having a mountain themed piece of art hit home since I treasure the outdoors and it represents Vancouver and BC.
I designed, painted, and created this piece from scratch repurposing some pieces of wood I had in my garage. Using power saws, I cut out the "mountain" part first as aligning the 45 degrees were the difficult parts if you do not have the right tools. After cutting all the pieces, I painted the base brown with highlighted snowy mountain caps.
Lastly, using wood glue, I clamped the pieces together and sanded the rough edges and residual glue off. Then I made the frame which can be used to hang on a wall nail.
